Happy Birthday Nicole!
For those of you flying this summer, I found an article that I thought was pretty interesting. I always thought that the air on an airplane was pretty contaminated. Turns out is is actually better than the air in your home or office. One thing that I did find pretty alarming is the frequency with which they actually wash the airline blankets and change the pillow cases.
It is Friday and I am finished with work for the weekend. I am not sure what I am going to do yet...maybe I should knock off a couple of things from my "to do" list.
We finished Employee of the Month last night. It was pretty good. Actually, it was much better than I expected. Yesterday I was with the retina specialist. We were really busy and finished about 2.5 hours late. Everyone that came in seemed to be bleeding profusely in the back of the eye. I am looking forward to the weekend. I don't believe that we have any plans yet (other than relaxing). I am okay with that at this point. The current forecast for Saturday has the high in the 70's. That would be really nice. So, I am out of things to say for tonight. I guess that I am going to do some more laundry.
Friday we rented a three movies from the convenience store in our apartment complex. We watched School for Scoundrels. It was actually pretty good and made me laugh several times. Saturday we took my car in for its inspection. Nothing too exciting there. Sunday we went to Cheeseburger in Paradise with Nicole, Andrew, and Mike. It was a lot of fun. Gabe and I also went to Staples and purchased a GPS system. While we were driving back I clicked on the "POI" (points of interest) button and found out that Ernest Hemingway's birthplace is only about 10 miles from where I currently live. So, I clicked on the "route to" button and off we went. I even took a picture. If I ever get around to it, I might even load it onto my page. We also drove past a church designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. I am an observant person, but it is crazy how many things I drive past every day, but never notice. They just pop up on the GPS. I really like it. Apparently the GPS unit thinks its name is Jason, but I call it Bob. We also watched Happy Feet. I was really disappointed with the movie. Today both Gabe and I worked late. Mondays I am at work until 7:00 p.m., so Gabe usually stays late at his job too. I started filling out my license application for Illinois. It isn't too bad. I should finish it by Wednesday...then I guess I will mail it in. We started watching Employee of the Month tonight. It is nothing stellar, but it is much better than Happy Feet.
Happy Anniversary Shane and Stephanie!
Happy Birthday Tammie!
I got off early from work today. There were only a handful of patients scheduled after lunch, so we (the interns) were allowed to leave. Because two of the three doctors will not be in tomorrow and the doctor that will be in is only there part of the day, I have tomorrow off. I am really excited about getting to sleep in. The only downfall is that on days I plan to sleep in, I get up early. I watched American Idol last night and I was glad that Sanjaya was the idol that was voted off. I have been thinking about it though and I must say that even though sometimes his singing wasn't too hot, he was fun to watch. The dogs and I sat out on the patio this afternoon while I did a few things. The weather is at least nicer than it has been lately. Though last time it was nice, it was in the 70's and it snowed a few days after. Maybe we are done with snow until winter.
Congratulations to Narine and Yaadavi on the birth of their baby!
On Friday I finished the third part of boards with the Patient Assessment and Management portion. Tony arrived on Wednesday evening and neither of us really studied much for the test. We did however, manage to play several levels of a video game that Gabe and I recently purchased. Friday Tony, Gabe, and I celebrated by eating at Outback Steakhouse. Our waiter was actually from Australia. At first Tony thought the accent was fake. So, I decided to ask him the capital of Australia. I told Tony if he was from Australia he would answer with Canberra, but if he was a fake he would answer Sydney. He answered correctly and he was very nice...plus I liked listening to him talk. Sunday Gabe and I went to Waterfall Glen. It was fun to get out and walk around especially since the weather was really nice. I arrived home around around 7:30 tonight and Gabe even later.
Happy Birthday Sissy!
I hope that everyone is having a great Easter!
We arrived at my parent's house late Thursday night/Friday morning. Friday we all hung out and my sister, brother, sister-in-law, niece, and nephew dropped by. It was a lot colder than I had hoped for. It has been in the 70's and 80's at my parent's for quite some time. I am pretty sure that I brought the cold weather. When Gabe and I were there it was in the 40's. Now we are back in Chicago attempting to get things finished/studying for boards. I hope that I pass.
Gabe and I went to see Disturbia tonight at the Hollywood Blvd movie premier (its release date is not until Friday, April 13). I expected to see a movie that would keep me on the edge of my seat. However, out of the 1 hour and 45 minute movie I would say that only about 15 minutes were scary. Our tickets were free, so I can't complain too much, but I would definitely say that if you are paying then it is a renter. I think that Gabe was happy to see any movie. He has been trying to talk me into going to a show for a few days now.
Today I took the Clinical Skills Exam portion of Part III of Boards. I think that I did okay. I just hope that I passed...hopefully the NBEO wasn't pulling any April Fool's Day pranks. I take the Patient Assessment and Management (PAM) on Friday, April 13. Wow! I really am getting some great dates for testing. To catch everyone up with what has been going in our lives...I work, study, sleep, and repeat. Gabe works, surfs the net, sleeps, and repeats. Now I have to really hit the books for the PAM. Tony has been staying with us since Thursday and he is leaving to go back to Alaska (his current rotation) tomorrow morning. He will be back with us again for the PAM. I am really hoping to get to Alaska while he is there on rotation. He has been a little under the weather since arriving. He was really concerned about me catching what he has. I told him as long as I could stay well until 4:30 pm today I would be happy. Yesterday we went to Pancho's with Andrew, Nicole, Ryan A., Jake, Alan, Darby, Ryan B., and of course, Tony and Gabe. Everyone that went had their boards on Saturday with the exception of Ryan B. and myself. We both went today. My celebration came today after boards. Nicole, Andrew, Tony, Gabe, and I had a BBQ at our apartment and played Mario Party. It was a lot of fun. It is bedtime for me. Tomorrow is a long work day.
Happy April Fool's Day! Anyone pull any good tricks?
